Notes: In 2007 I thought about a orchestral work I had written in 1984 titled Cortege. When I looked at that score again I wished the music seemed more passionate in tone. Everywhere I looked, I saw ways I could improve its intensity.

I decided to withdraw Cortege and use its materials to create a more expressive work. After cutting a middle section, I used what was left as a sketch for a work of far greater emotional intensity, rewriting it from beginning to end. For me, the result, Times Trans-shifting, is a far more moving and rewarding experience.

The title comes from a poem by 17th-century poet Robert Herrick.
