Dream Suite for Flute and Piano premiered by Nicole Riner and Theresa Bogard at the University of Wyoming, February 18, 2008.

Completed a revised version of his fantasy opera, Beautiful Princess Available for Rescue, September, 2007.

Served as music consultant for two musicals workshopped by the Creative Media Institute at New Mexico State University, July 15-21, 2007.

Retired as Professor Emeritus from Arizona State University to compose full time, May, 2006.

Song cycle If Soul May Look and Body Touch, on poems by William Butler Yeats, premiered October 25, 2004 by Kristin Dauphinais and Andrew Campbell in Katzin Concert Hall, Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona.

Beautiful Princess Available for Rescue, a full-length fantasy opera (libretto by Shinn), premiered February 27, 28, and 29, 2004 by Doña Lyric Opera, Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Sara McKinnon, (libretto by Mark Medoff) was premiered in a revised version by the University of Colorado Opera April 24-27, 2003.

Shinn was in residence at the University of Colorado in Boulder March 17-21 and April 21-27, 2003.
