[Withdrawn, replaced by Five Sketches]

Composer Notes: In 1980 a dancer asked me for some music to choreograph, and I composed five pieces for piano trio using a “letters” concept. In 1993 I transcribed it into Family Letters for orchestra, which received multiple performances.

Over time, for a variety of reasons, I lost interest in the concept of “letters” as a framing device. In 2010 I reworked the orchestral piece with the concept of “sketches” in mind, reshaping each movement to create Five Sketches for orchestra. In 2016 I transcribed that orchestral piece back into a piano trio version, and this new version now replaces Forgotten Letters.
